Excited Volkanovski to Make Topuria Revise His Instagram Bio Following UFC 298
Volkanovski (26-3 MMA, 13-2 UFC) will defend his title against Topuria (14-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) in the main event of UFC 298, happening at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. With the event approaching, Volkanovski is enjoying his part in the buildup, as Topuria has been doing most of the talking, effectively playing the antagonist to some.
Recently, Topuria, full of confidence, updated his Instagram bio to say that he is the “UFC World Champion” and has a perfect record of “15-0,” suggesting that he already sees himself as the winner of UFC 298. Volkanovski found it funny, saying, “He’s never lost a fight, he’s talking, you know, and people are just finding it amusing. As for me, I get to be the experienced champion, and I’m just going to show him some humility. So for me, I think only time will tell. The next press conference, in a few days, you’ll have a different tune.”
Volkanovski agrees with Topuria’s position but disagrees with the challenger’s behavior. He believes that Topuria is already acting like a champion and considering himself a superstar. However, Volkanovski is certain that Topuria will be in for a surprise on Feb. 17. The champion intends to humble him and reinforce his own narrative.
Volkanovski wants to show Topuria that he’s not as good as he thinks he is. He will do this by demonstrating his abilities at UFC 298 and reminding everyone that he is the best featherweight in the UFC.
“Earned, not given. That’s something I like to say, and it has been around for a while,” Volkanovski said. “I really believe in that quote, and it reflects who I am. I’m not saying he hasn’t deserved this opportunity, but let’s be honest. Look at how hard I had to work to get the title, and the challenges many others faced on their path to the title.”
The upcoming fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria at UFC 298 is expected to be an exciting match that will decide the future of the featherweight division.
