Francis Ngannou came close to shocking the world against Tyson Fury, but he’s still considered an underdog going into his second professional boxing match against Anthony Joshua.
So, here’s the deal: The odds for Ngannou’s newly-announced fight with ex-champ Anthony Joshua have been revealed, and our man Ngannou is still considered the underdog, although not by as much as he was in his fight with Fury back in October.
SportsBetting.ag has just dropped the opening odds for Ngannou vs. Joshua, which supposedly goes down on March 9 in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia.
Anthony Joshua: -500
Francis Ngannou: +325
According to the odds, it looks like Joshua has a pretty solid 83 percent chance of winning the bout. If you were to bet $100 on the ex-champ, you’d get a return of $20. On the other hand, Ngannou has a 25 percent chance of winning, so if you bet $100 on him, you could score a sweet return of $325.
The sportsbook actually gives Ngannou a way better shot at winning compared to his fight with Fury, which he unfortunately lost by split decision even after knocking down Fury in a super intense brawl. Fury started off at -1400 while Ngannou was at +750, making an Ngannou victory look like a crazy huge surprise.
So, Joshua was supposed to fight the hard-hitting ex-champ Deontay Wilder after beating Otto Wallin at Day of Reckoning last month, but Wilder got beaten by Joseph Parker in a major upset. Joshua’s promoters quickly changed their plans and now he’s scheduled to face Ngannou on March 9, who was the original opponent for Joshua vs. Wilder..
Hey, just wanted to let you know that there’s gonna be a press conference on Jan. 15 in London to officially announce Joshua vs. Ngannou. Can’t wait to see what goes down!
